Evolution of Hip Hop and how drugs, guns, and woman are used in a song
2. What is interesting to you about this genre? Or, why might it be significant or otherwise worth paying attention to?
Hip Hop is my favorite genre of music, but I can’t help but notice that every rapper includes drugs that they do (weed, lean, molly etc.), guns that they carry and then tie it in to their songs, or they describe that they have a lot of money and use it to buy different things (Gucci belts, Versace etc.)

- Netflix movie summaries/descriptions
- I am interested in the formula used to create these summaries, how far into the ending the description goes, if the genres used to describe the movie/TV show are accurate, and the length of description given.
- The “overviews” of the movies and tv shows are one sentence long, limited description of the subject, missing pertinent details.
- (Example of Childrens movie): Hotel Transylvania 3 “Its love at first sight for Dracula when he meets Ericka, the charming yet mysterious captain on the monster cruise Mavis plans for the family.”
(Example of Adult TV show): Stranger Things “When a young boy vanishes, a small town uncovers a mystery, involving secret experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one strange little girl.” [...]

Street Art
- What is interesting to you about this genre? Or, why might it be significant or otherwise worth paying attention to?
Street art, in its purest form, is done for the sole purpose of expression, whether it’s for aesthetic purposes or wanting to convey a message or idea. Street artist aren’t compensated for their street art. In fact they are often arrested because it is illegal, which is why most street artists are masked and unknown.
- Tentatively, define/describe your corpus (collection of texts/examples)
I will attempt to show street art in a more non-conventional way. For example, street art is usually though of as graffiti and spray paint, but street art has far more categories like street installation and wheat pasting. [...]

The genre I want to introduce is the words on the movie poster.
- What is interesting to you about this genre? Or, why might it be significant or otherwise worth paying attention to?
The plot of a movie is very long, and the movie poster must have a few short words to summarize the whole movie. So the words on the movie poster is very important.
- Tentatively, define/describe your corpus (collection of texts/examples)
Most of the words on the movie poster use the simplest words, homonyms or numbers. But the producer can achieve the purpose of summarizing the movie through the change of the font. [...]

Since its conception under the YouTube platform, the amount of views and revenue accrued from these videos conceptualizes the relationship between content creators and a viable audience that hasn’t been realized.

From collective research on YouTube, and a cursive search through the internet for reputable reviews and analyses of this genre and its growing influence over an incumbent generation of toddlers and adolescents, its not going anywhere. … The double meaning of nursery rhymes.
- What is interesting to you about this genre? Or, why might it be significant or otherwise worth paying attention to?
… As kid’s we are introduced into literacy through nursery rhymes thinking they are these cute plots/characters/settings/ideas but after researching a bit I find that most of these stories are messed up. Parents prevent their kids from watching and playing violent and sexually active videogames but ironically are okay with children reading, repeating and making games to these these nursery rhymes which hold the same meaning behind them.

- Astrological Horoscopes (Zodiac Signs)
- What is interesting to you about this genre? Or, why might it be significant or otherwise worth paying attention to?
- This genre is interesting to me because the moment a person is born, there is a set determined astrological chart representing a sign pertaining to that person, their personalities and traits.
- Tentatively, define/describe your corpus (collection of texts/examples).
- Astrological Horoscopes is said to shape their personality, affect their romantic relationships and predict their economic fortunes, among other divinations.

Click bait… I’ve noticed that click bait is everywhere, not just in things like YouTube videos. Click bait is even incorporated in news articles and stories. Even crazy store discounts such as “Entire store 50% off”, and then when you go in the store it ends up being most things 50% off, but not all. Also, weight loss “magic” supplements that say you’ll lose 20 pounds in one week, or something not realistic, just to make you buy their product. Click bait is literally everywhere.

- Acne Product Commercials/Advertisements
- What is interesting to you about this genre? Or, why might it be significant or otherwise worth paying attention to?
- It’s interesting how most of these ads/commercials will use a celebrity to sell the product. And also how they’ll show how the acne product has worked for other people even though you can tell the people in the advertisement or in the commercial have make-up on. So, how do you know if the product has actually worked for them?
- It’s worth paying attention to because it’s sold to viewers as in you’ll only be pretty if you’re skin is flawless and encourages people with acne to feel insecure about their looks.

Inspirational/Motivational home décor sayings
- What is interesting to you about this genre? Or, why might it be significant or otherwise worth paying attention to?
Its intended purpose versus its actual impact; is it bought necessarily for self-uplifting purposes or is it an image preserver/painter? Is it for the buyer to see or the guests to judge the buyer’s ethics? Does it actually make an inspirational impact on anyone or the guise of the “glass half-full” persona? Do words even count as décor? What do they say versus what do they imply about the buyer? Does anyone actually buy this bullshit– like honest to God believe what they’re saying? [...]
INTRODUCTION:
- Genre/Subgenre: Cards meant for children ages 1-5, pre-reading age.
- Interest: These kids can’t read. Why the hell do we feel the need to give them useless bits of paper with witty phrases on them if they’re not going to understand them? Half of them use a pun based on the number they’ve aged up to, and I know that when I was that age, I was too dumb to understand what a pun was, let alone why it’d be funny.
- Corpus: Birthday cards, Hallmark cards, off-brand cards in a similarly cartoonish style. Pop-up cards, singing cards and sticker cards are exceptions in this genre, but their presence does show that the card business is trying to expand.
My tentative “underappreciated” genre is magical realism. The most interesting thing about this genre is how it adds magical elements to real life stories. It’s significant because it’s a very interesting genre that has rather distinct aspects to it. Magical realism can be best defined as a literary style or genre that is closely associated with Latin America that incorporates mythical elements in realistic fiction. This genre as stated before was usually seen by older Latin American writers, and has its ties to movements such as Realism. It is used by adding fictional and mythical elements to a life like story, for example in the movie Sky High, one of the characters has the ability to turn into a small furry hamster. [...]
