DUE Before class time, please give each essay a letter grade assessment in each of the five areas outlined by the Writing Program: 1) argument, 2) evidence, 3) organization, 4) audience, and 5) grammar and format and give each essay an overall grade. (Write down these assessments before class—nothing will be collected, but writing things down will help us have a more productive meeting.) Be prepared to identify each essay’s biggest strength and biggest weakness (a.k.a. area for improvement), as well as the advice you’d give the student for making improvements.

In preparation for grade norming next week, please send four student essays—an A, B, C, and an NP (not passing)—from essays 3 or 4. Please save the papers as YourLastName-A, YourLastName-B, etc., and email them to me by 11:59pm (midnight) on 11/13. Wordprocessing files are preferred (.doc or .docx), but I can also take PDFs and other file formats if necessary.
After I receive all the files, I’ll select a few and email them out to everyone on Sunday. (Don’t worry – I’ll remove your names, student names, and any other identifying information before sending.)
