Job Advertisement Due for Approval

FIRST: Review the Job Search Portfolio Project Guidelines, as well as relevant course material on defining job targets and finding a job (job search).
SECOND: Find a job listing for a desirable, real job in your field that you could likely/reasonably obtain directly after graduation. In other words, a job you could apply for after having earned your degree, passing required exams, earning required certifications, etc.
This is the job listing you’ll be working with for the Job Search Portfolio project, so choose wisely. It’s best to choose a position/listing that’s as close as possible to something you could/would apply for. It’s also helpful to find a listing with a lot of details — more details means it will be easier for you to tailor a resume and cover letter that matches the position.
  • Entry level positions are fine.
  • Typically, listings that ask for one or two years of experience are fine too (but be aware that you may have to address inexperience—we’ll talk about that later).
  • Ideally, locate a job advertisement for a position in your desired geographic location.
  • Telemarketing or temp positions are not appropriate.
  • The listing must include all of the following:
    • the name of the company/business (no head hunters or recruitment services)
    • a position title
    • a description of duties/responsibilities
    • minimum qualifications/requirements
THIRD: Copy/paste the accessible URL to the job ad AND copy/paste the full text of the job advertisement into a .doc/x file. Save as “LastName-JobAd” and submit to Blackboard by class time (9:30am) on Friday, 11/18.

Note: You don’t need to write anything else in the file or do anything else with it at this time. I’m asking you to submit the job advertisements for approval so I can be sure they’re appropriate as the basis for your Job Search Portfolio Project.
