“Fox on Socks” by Dr. Seuss —> Why Foxes don’t wear socks 

Fox on Socks is an annoyingly nonsensical children’s story full of tongue twisters. I want to change this books text to something intelligible, a common sense story which explains the ridiculousness of this book. It will point out the absurdity of the story and the incorrect vocabulary.  

“The Lorax” by Dr. Seuss —> The epic story of a Consumerisms victory over mother nature 

I want to take the tale of the Lorax, trying in vain to save mother nature from the industrial age and turn it into a tale of victory and triumph for mass production and materialism. I find this interesting because no matter how many generations have grown up hearing the cautionary tale of The Lorax and how things will not change unless we care a whole lot, we still continue to destroy our planet. I have noticed that in recent years parents are getting extremely creative with baby names and while some of them are cute and beautiful some of the names are a bit odd. I once read that a couple parents named their child “facebook” after the social media account. While I am not judging their parenting techniques it got me thinking about all the unique baby names and how you can name children after elements of nature. My project would cover a list of unique nature inspired baby names that can be rendered gender neutral in today’s society and provide insight as to whether nature gender neutral names can hold on to heritage and still be trendy. Jcole rap music into gospel music

I listen to a lot of Jcole’s music, and the reoccurring theme that he has presented is the fact that he is trying to speak the language of youth in a positive light.  In a church there are similar attributes, when a pastor is trying to speak to his troubled youth followers about what is right and wrong, and why they shouldn’t act impudently.

Are the Beats headphones that I have any better, then a corded version of another brand of headphones?  Or is the airpods that everyone that is “important” has, but continues to lose more than just helping me have a better listening experience?  [...]

“Dark Spaghetti”

Spaghetti Westerns are an interesting sub genre because they provide a window into what the genre would be like from the point of view of an Italian producer.  This differs from a American Western, because instead of focusing on the “All American,” “white knight,” we get something real.  When collaborating with the professor I have come to the realization that these producers are somewhat imitating what they think is the most important parts of the genre.  What they believe makes up a spaghetti western.  I will be exploring why these Italian producers have chosen to emphasize a new approach to the role of the protagonist, and how this actually resembles a closer view to how the western expansion actually was. As hip-hop/rap has evolved through the years, the same few tendencies remain intact. No matter the beat or the artist the same tendencies remain. The title for this paper will be “Common themes in the Evolution of Hip-Hop/Rap”. This paper will address how artists use their music and other platforms, such as social media, to show off their accessories. The paper will also give examples of how these artists show off their acquired accessories. When listening to hip-hop/rap music many people overlook the fact that these artists use these same tendencies in almost every song. The artists also have numerous musical platforms that their music can be heard from allowing them to have a bigger audience than rappers in the past had. [...]

Throughout this project, I found interest in doing my proposal on something that hit close to home.. Astrological Horoscopes! This topic is pretty interesting because it allows everyone to have their own personalized chart just by applying their date of birth, time, and location. The purpose this topic will bring is an understanding of how broad narratives of Astrological Horoscopes reinforce positivity for people in crisis.

Fragrance advertisements are widely known for their eccentricity and uniqueness, and it can be hard to imagine how that contributes to its $75 billion industry. Clearly, they are very effective at selling perfumes and colognes despite their specific impact on customers being nebulous. Frequently the subject of parody, the unconventionality of this genre and its vague tropes cannot be understated, and it consequently proves itself to be a potentially fruitful topic of study.

This project strives to analyze, understand, and explain how the unique tropes of fragrance ads can aid in its purpose of selling the product. By examining commercials from within the past few decades, relevant trends in techniques, symbology, and themes and be established, and these can be deconstructed to discover the purpose behind their existence in the genre. Communication is vital to society. Depending on where you come from people have a way of saying things to explain a concept or an idea. In the Southern part of the United States friends and family communicate through sayings. Short phrases that are designed to say what you mean by illustrating an image. In some cases, the images are not even directly related to the subject that is being discussed and yet still people understand it’s meaning. The ways that the Southern people live and talk are a world of its own. It is rich in metaphor and simile, while using hyperbole to create a dictionary of its own through these sayings. [...]

Entertaining is a perfect term used to describe the titles of clickbait. The titles often include over exciting language to excite the reader’s curiosity, and lure them in to click on the content whether it be an advertisement, commercial, or video such as on YouTube. For example, Facebook advertisements are notorious for containing clickbait. An advertisement is titled, “3 secret tips to lose those extra pounds. Click to find out!”. This definitely makes the reader curious as to what the tips are, leading them to click on it. What is not entertaining is the way clickbait over promises and under delivers; it is extremely disappointing. Even with the above example, a less intense use of clickbait, the actual tips end up being things that most people already know, thus the reader is very disappointed. [...]

  • Point of Significance: Broad but typical traits/ characteristics associated with a zodiac sign of a person in a certain astrological group.
  • Subject: Astrology offers those in crisis the comfort of imagining a better future. In some way being able to predict your near possible future just by reading a daily horoscope.
  • Point of Significance: Some people who are stressed or have no sense of self direction mindlessly follow these daily horoscopes telling them how to go about their day all from quality traits.
  • Subject: Astrological (Zodiac) signs are becoming a millenial meme phenomena.
