To that end&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>Please include any notes I might need to understand your grades (a few examples: exemption from a response assignment, holistic grading of response assignments, deductions for missing error logs, extra credit, division of standard sequence weights to account for rough and final drafts, explicit inclusion of peer review, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5 style=\"margin-top: 1.5em;\">Why do you need to see weights?<\/h5>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 20px;\">I know that some of you had to make adjustments to the number and\/or weighting of assignments. For that reason, the English department requires all IORs to &#8220;sign off&#8221; on their GTAs&#8217; final semester grades. To sign off on your grades in good faith, I must be able to see how they were calculated.<\/p>\n<h5>Should I be nervous about submitting my gradebook if made adjustments to coursework or weights?<\/h5>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 20px;\">Probably not. I don&#8217;t send your gradebooks to Prof. Hinshaw or the English department. Unless there is a major problem, I am the only person who will see your gradebook.*<\/p>\n<div class=\"pagefootnote\">* While I&#8217;ve only ever needed to produce my records a few times (for the rare grade dispute), I keep my gradebook neat, readable, and consistent&#8230; just in case.<\/div>\n<h5 style=\"margin-top: 1.5em;\">How do I send you my grades if I kept a physical (print\/paper) gradebook?<\/h5>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 20px;\">You can scan the pages with a scanner use one of several free smart phone apps that convert photos into PDF files. For iOS, try <a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/app\/genius-scan-pdf-scanner\/id377672876?mt=8\">Genius Scan<\/a> (I use this one!) or try the well-rated <a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/app\/camscanner-free-pdf-document\/id388627783?mt=8\">CamScanner<\/a>. For Android, try <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.appxy.tinyscanner&amp;hl=en\">Tiny Scanner \u2013 PDF Scanner App<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.intsig.camscanner&amp;hl=en\">CamScanner<\/a>. Save your file as a .pdf and email it to me.<\/p>\n<h5>How do I send you my grades if I used Excel?<\/h5>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 20px;\">Send the .xls\/x file as an email attachment.<\/p>\n<h5>How do I send you my grades if I used Blackboard to calculate my final semester grade?<\/h5>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 20px;\">Email me an let me know you used Bb. I have access to your Bb course sites and I&#8217;ll take a look at your gradebooks there.<\/p>\n<h5>I&#8217;m done. Can I send you my gradebook now?<\/h5>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 20px;\">Yes.
