We are <span class=\"hglyel\">committed<\/span> to cultivating an <span class=\"hglyel\">inclusive<\/span> work and learning environment and look for future team members who share that same value.<\/p>\n<div class=\"pageheading\">POSITION SUMMARY:<\/div>\n<p>The Wild Cat Conservation Education Fellowship (WCCEF) program is a <span class=\"hglgrn\">unique opportunity<\/span> for young professionals (currently enrolled in college or recently graduated) to: <span class=\"hgltblue\">explore<\/span> the <span class=\"hglgrn\">field of education<\/span> at an informal science institution as part of a team; <span class=\"hgltblue\">develop<\/span> a <span class=\"hglgrn\">learning action plan<\/span> to support their <span class=\"hglgrn\">professional growth as an educator<\/span>; and, <span class=\"hgltblue\">complete<\/span> a <span class=\"hglgrn\">professional teaching portfolio<\/span> to document their <span class=\"hglgrn\">pedagogy skills<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>You will <span class=\"hgltblue\">work<\/span> part-time at the Wild Cat Research and Conservation Center\u2019s (WCRCC) Phoenix Zoo as a member of the Research &amp; Education Department team. You will <span class=\"hgltblue\">support<\/span> the WCS Phoenix Zoo in <span class=\"hgltblue\">facilitating<\/span> <span class=\"hglgrn\">educational experiences<\/span> that <span class=\"hgltblue\">inspire<\/span> a <span class=\"hglgrn\">love of wildlife and wild places<\/span> for school and\/or family and children groups. You will <span class=\"hgltblue\">acquire<\/span> <span class=\"hglgrn\">skills to welcome diverse learners, interests, and backgrounds<\/span> and <span class=\"hgltblue\">foster<\/span> <span class=\"hglgrn\">student-directed learning<\/span> while <span class=\"hgltblue\">learning<\/span> <span class=\"hglgrn\">pertinent information about wildlife conservation issues with a global impact<\/span>. You will <span class=\"hgltblue\">shadow<\/span> and <span class=\"hgltblue\">teach<\/span> under the supervision of full-time Conservation Educators, as well as, <span class=\"hgltblue\">train<\/span> with the <span class=\"hglgrn\">Phoenix Zoo\u2019s tractable animal collection<\/span>. After a period of time, you will begin <span class=\"hgltblue\">teaching<\/span> and <span class=\"hgltblue\">developing<\/span> <span class=\"hglgrn\">curriculum<\/span> <span class=\"hglyel\">independently<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>You will <span class=\"hgltblue\">develop<\/span> a <span class=\"hglgrn\">Learning Action Plan<\/span> to <span class=\"hgltblue\">set<\/span> and <span class=\"hgltblue\">achieve<\/span> <span class=\"hglgrn\">goals<\/span> with the support of a mentor. You will <span class=\"hgltblue\">participate<\/span> in <span class=\"hglgrn\">ongoing professional development workshops<\/span> to <span class=\"hgltblue\">learn<\/span> about <span class=\"hglgrn\">informal education theory and practice<\/span> by experienced WCRCC Research Education department and other WCRCC department staff. You will leave the program with <span class=\"hglgrn\">extensive experience teaching and developing programming for a variety of audiences<\/span>, with a completed <span class=\"hglgrn\">professional teaching portfolio<\/span> to document your skills.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0;\">There are two WCCEF program tracts to participate in:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"margin-top: 0.75em; margin-bottom: 1em;\">\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 8px;\">School Group Program Focus: This position will focus primarily on <span class=\"hglgrn\">experience with PreK-12th grade students<\/span>, including <span class=\"hglgrn\">involvement with our Teacher Advisory Council, standards-based learning and partnership schools<\/span>.<\/li>\n<li>Children &amp; Family Program Focus: This position will focus primarily on <span class=\"hglgrn\">experience with children and family audiences<\/span>, including Zoo Play, birthday parties, Zoo Camp and breakfast series programs.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Exemplary WCCEFs will be invited to stay for the 2021 summer season during June, July and August.<\/p>\n<div class=\"pageheading\">PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/div>\n<ul class=\"two\">\n<li><span class=\"hgltblue\">Teach<\/span> <span class=\"hglgrn\">on-site school and family programs<\/span> as assigned by Education department<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"hgltblue\">Assist<\/span> with <span class=\"hgltblue\">teaching<\/span> of weekend <span class=\"hglgrn\">general audience programs<\/span>, including birthday<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"hgltblue\">Assist<\/span> instructional staff with <span class=\"hgltblue\">review<\/span> and <span class=\"hgltblue\">revisions<\/span> of <span class=\"hglgrn\">school and family programs<\/span> as needed.<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"hgltblue\">Assist<\/span> instructional staff in the <span class=\"hgltblue\">development<\/span> and <span class=\"hgltblue\">creation<\/span> of <span class=\"hglgrn\">materials for school and general audience programs<\/span>.<\/li>\n<li>Get <span class=\"hgltblue\">trained<\/span> on and <span class=\"hgltblue\">present<\/span> <span class=\"hglgrn\">animals<\/span> from the Zoo\u2019s tractable animal collection, <span class=\"hgltblue\">following<\/span> all <span class=\"hglgrn\">policy and procedure<\/span> as indicated by Education Tractable Collection<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"hgltblue\">Participate<\/span> in all <span class=\"hglgrn\">staff professional development meetings<\/span>.<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"hgltblue\">Comply<\/span> with all <span class=\"hglgrn\">policies and procedures<\/span> as presented by WCS and the Bronx Zoo Education<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"pageheading\">QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:<\/div>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold; margin-bottom: 0.5em; font-size: 106%;\">Education:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"two\" style=\"margin-bottom: 1em;\">\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 0;\">Currently enrolled college student or recent college graduate.
