To help you learn some intermediate MS Word formatting and design tools, you will be given a .pdf file and you will recreate the document in Word.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 500; font-size: 120%; color: #414141;\">Instructions:<\/span> Recreate the .pdf file in MS Word. In other words, to the best of your ability, make your .doc\/x file look like the .pdf.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 500; font-size: 120%; color: #414141;\">Note:<\/span> The original file was created in MS Word and saved as a .pdf. Your objective is to use various techniques available to you in MS Word to duplicate the appearance of the .pdf. You may not copy and paste pieces of the .pdf into Word\u2014that doesn\u2019t count.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 500; font-size: 120%; color: #414141;\">Hints, Notes, and Other Information:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 8px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/techrhet.com\/3213\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/11\/3213F16-DesignActivityHints.pdf\">Click here to download a \u201chint\u201d file with annotations<\/a> and information about specific formatting elements. Those annotations offer hints about how to recreate some of the elements. This \u201chint\u201d file isn\u2019t intended to be instructive or complete. Ultimately, you are responsible for figuring everything out on your own.<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 8px;\">If you\u2019re struggling, use Google! There are lots of tutorials and help information available.<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 8px;\">For working with objects and text (text that is not in a text box), I recommend typing the text first, then dealing with the object.<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 8px;\">I\u2019ve found keeping the \u201cFormatting Palette\u201d and \u201cDrawing Toolbar\u201d handy helps a lot.<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 8px;\">To group items and move them all together, hold \u201cshift\u201d and click to select each item. After the items are selected, right click, go to \u201cgrouping,\u201d and \u201cgroup\u201d items. Or, use the \u201cselect objects\u201d icon (an arrow and dashed rectangle) and drag to select items.<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 8px;\">To \u201cnudge\u201d objects, click to select the object, hold down \u201calt\u201d and use the arrow keys (on Mac, try one or a combination of function keys). Or, find the grid option and uncheck \u201csnap objects.\u201d<\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-bottom: 8px;\">To change the layout and wrapping of objects, right click on the object, go down to \u201cformat\u2026\u201d and adjust the settings there.<br \/>\nIf you\u2019re unsure and afraid of messing up what you have, open a blank file and test something there.<\/li>\n<li>Yes, learning new techniques can be frustrating! Take a deep breath and keep trying.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 500; font-size: 120%; color: #414141;\">Submission:<\/span> If you complete the assignment in class, raise your hand so I can take a look and give you credit (if it\u2019s completed correctly).
